Privacy Policy

The short version. BratTamer watches only your active browser tab, and only while a focus session is running. By default everything stays on your device. We never sell your data, never serve ads, never track your browsing history, and never read page content. The paid tier sends the minimum needed for AI messages to our processor and nothing more.

Who we are

BratTamer.AI ("BratTamer," "we," "us") is a focus-accountability tool delivered as a browser extension and desktop application. You can reach us at support@brattamer.ai.

What the app does, and what it sees

When you start a focus session, BratTamer checks which website is in your active tab to decide whether it is a site you asked to stay away from. It looks only at the site's hostname (for example youtube.com), never the full address, the page content, what you type, or what you read. When no session is running, it watches nothing.

Information we handle

Your active tab's hostname — checked in the moment to detect a distraction. It is not logged or stored.
Your task text and settings — what you're working on, your persona choices, your allow/block lists, your session history and streaks.
Account details (paid tier only) — an email and authentication token if you create an account for live AI messages and cross-device sync.

Where your data lives

Free tier: everything stays in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not sent to us.
Paid "Live" tier: to generate an in-character message, we send the minimum context (your current task, the kind of site that caught you, your persona settings, and time on task) to our backend, which calls our AI provider. We do not send your browsing history, full URLs, or page content.

Third parties we use (paid tier)

Anthropic — generates the AI messages. Context is sent for processing and is not used to train models on your data under our configuration.
Google Firebase — account sign-in and optional cross-device sync.
Google Calendar — only if you connect it, and only with read access, to show upcoming events. You can disconnect anytime.

We do not use advertising networks or third-party trackers.

What we never do

Sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising.
Track your browsing across the web.
Read page content, form inputs, passwords, or full URLs.
Monitor anything outside an active session you started.

Browser permissions, explained

Reading the active tab — to detect a distracting site during a session.
Storage — to keep your settings and history on your device.
Showing the overlay on any site — so the accountability prompt can appear on whichever site pulled you away.
Notifications — for praise and session messages.

Your controls

End a session anytime to stop all monitoring instantly.
Clear your local history and settings from the app, or by removing the extension.
Delete a paid account by contacting support@brattamer.ai; we remove associated account data.
Disconnect Google Calendar at any time.

AI-generated content

Messages from your "Tamer" are generated by AI and constrained by a prompt that keeps them supportive and non-demeaning. You can report a message you find inappropriate from within the app, and you can change or disable the persona at any time.

Age requirement

BratTamer is intended for adults, 18 and over. It is not directed at children and must not be used by anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
